Volunteer
The KC-CASA/ISAS volunteer component has been part of the agency since its beginning and is the true backbone of the organization. Volunteers can work in Kankakee County, Iroquois County, or both.
Our volunteers are provided with a no cost 40 hour training program that is offered at least twice per year. In addition, free training is offered every other month through the Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault at different sites around the state.
As a Volunteer you would be trained to:
- Provide crisis line assistance, support, or information to victims and significant others
- Provide direct support to victims at the hospital emergency room or at the police department
- Work with police, medical staff and criminal justice professionals to best protect our community's most innocent victims.
Other volunteer opportunities could include working the front desk during evening hours; assisting with community outreach and public awareness activities; assisting with legal advocacy; and helping provide maintenance/repairs at the centers.
KC-CASA/ISAS offers a continuing education program at each monthly volunteer meeting in order keep our volunteers current on the latest trends in crime, law and medical research.
