3rd Grade: Staying Safe Program

Staying Safe introduces the concept of personal safety by teaching children basic body and stranger safety rules.

  • There is a review with the children on basic body safety.  A reminder of what the child should do if someone breaks the rules and touches them is shared.
  • A video may be shown to the children, “If It Happens to You”. The video helps to explain to the children that their body belongs to them, and only them.  After the video, a review of what the children have seen is given and a small discussion will occur.
  • The importance of telling a trusted person about the abuse is discussed along with reasons why the child may fear reporting the abuse.
  • Possible introduction to Bullying.

Handouts include: A safety sticker along with a pencil that includes the agency 24 hour crisis number.
