Advocacy

Advocacy is our work on behalf of and with victims of sexual assault and/or abuse. Advocates are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to respond to hospitals and police stations to provide support and information to victims of sexual assault, to explain their options, and support their decisions.  Advocates accompany victims to court and stay by their side through the entire legal process.  Victims need NOT be alone.  Each year, advocates provide over 500 hours of confidential, personalized assistance to sexual assault/abuse survivors in medical and criminal justice settings.
Advocates are available to answer questions about:

  • Medical exams
  • Sexually transmitted infections
  • Pregnancy and emergency contraception
  • Evidence collection
  • Crime victim’s rights
  • Reporting to law enforcement
